Known for having the second longest left hand wave in the world, Pavones Costa Rica is a surfing mecca. Pavones hosts a world class wave and has one of the best waves in all of Costa Rica. When the conditions are right, the wave can line up for 3/4 of a mile long or 2 to 3 minute rides. The official surf season in Pavones is from May to November when S-SW swell directions are more prevalent. There are plenty of other surf breaks in the near area and not to mention some great waves located across the Golfo Dulce at Cabo Matapalo.

The small town of Pavones consists of a diverse community from the local Costa Ricans called " Ticos " to expats and other foreign residents. There is a good mixture of restaurants to enjoy some local food. Pavones is a laid back town where you can enjoy relaxing on the beach or swimming in the Rio Claro. There are many activities and site seeing in and around the area to enjoy the wildlife, eating exotic fruit and listening to the sounds of the rainforest and ocean.
